Autumn colours.

The swallows have been gone for several weeks now. I now have no excuse to not clean my workshop from the numerous messages they left behind. It seems to me that they migrate earlier here than in the UK, but maybe we are not on the flight path and our own batch were all gone in a matter of days. I did see loads of house martins today, but they too were obviously on their way south, and I haven’t seen a swift for months. Not all is doom though. There is a lovely couple of fields of sunflowers just in bloom a few miles away, and our wisteria is still blooming after starting in late March. Harvesting on the maize and sunflowers has begun, as with the deleafing of the tobacco plants just up the road.
