RIP Poor Bitten

When we got our sheep Roger said ‘the problem with sheep is that they die all the time’. When Bitten got bitten his prognosis was similarly pessimistic. But after a week she seemed to be on the mend and even he was slightly more positive about her prospects. Yesterday, however, she took a turn for the worse and it was no great surprise, therefore, that we found her dead this morning. Pauvre bete, as they say in these parts. Interestingly Nousnous – who has become a bit aggressive of late – has not left her side for the whole period since she was bitten. He’s become gentle and caring for ‘his girl’. Even today, he seemed reluctant to leave her… Wonder if by tomorrow he’ll even remember she was ever here?

The good news is that our work on the barns is underway. The concrete floors have been broken up, together with the cattle feeders. Unfortunately rain appears to have stopped play…. Never mind – at least it’s a start!
